Bill,
You're absolutely right, but that year, an SC with a worked #0600 piston was the high-horsepower ticket!
Of course, the technology move relentlessly on.

Having also fought with a 120SC for 2 years, I finally concluded that, after the factory couldn't make it run, it was a lost cause. They admitted to me it was a turkey; I traded it to them for a 1.40FZ and life immediately got better.
Should a person have to spend ~$500 for an engine, and then be forced to modify it to make it run?
Particularly, when those mods aren't general knowledge? I really struggle with that.

An SC with a plain-bucket piston and four head-gaskets ran beautifully, and was strong too.
All you had to do was dremel an 1/8" off the front skirt of the piston.

It took quite a while for me to learn the details of dealing with the YS engines. However, now that I am there, I have no interest in any airplane that is unsuitable for a YS140.
When a YS is running right it leaves nothing to be desired in my book.
PS: Don't ever confuse as YS-120SC with a real YS. I believe they were part of a nearly successful terrorist plot!

I need some help guys. Im really having trouble deciding what motor to put in my new Focus 2 for this year. Please folks put aside your YS / OS feuding. I would just like to know the best engine from all your experience. Performance, reliability, and ease of use. Dads willing to spend the money so no problems there. Haha. And I know all the engines are very nice engines, so what is the best engine / pipe / header / head / bearing / fuel / anything else combination?
Thanks in advance!
