Fw: Nose Ring

I used 3 legs on a Cap I had set up a nose ring in due to muffler interference and it worked just fine. Legs made of 1/4 sq spruce covered with thin c.f. and 1/8 balsa shear webbing covered with thin c.f. to brace the legs. Now granted in the Cap there was a lot more room but in some of the new wide bodies I don't see why you couldn't get inventive and try it. Got the idea from Bob Kane and he has a photo of how it is done.

I used the term to define/illustrate...in practice, 3 legs would NOT work, because of crankcase and cylinder head. Hence, 4 legs recommended.

Actually a "tripod" is three points and should be enough if you look at it from a design point of view. Just an observation!
