Sealing hinge gaps...

Gabriel,

I do it almost the same way as Matt suggested...below. But...I use a 5/16" wide strip of CLEAR monocote. With clear, it doesn't matter what your colors are in the hinge line....and for some airplanes 1/2" might be a little wide.

Go for it.

How important is it to seal the hinge gaps on control surfaces? Very

Do you do it to all your planes? Yes

Can you educate me on this issue? Take a strip of monokote about 1/2" and fold it in half lengthwise; run the folded edge across a sharp corner like a table top, to create a very good crease. Move the control surface as to open the gap as wide as possible and lay the film in the gap. Seal it down carefully to avoid binding. A ruler held in the folded crease while ironing, assures a straight, bind free seal

    Thanks, you're welcome

    Gabriel
