Stavros I have been running the 91FX about 3 years and am very fond of it. You will need to run the sealed bearings that are availiable from Boca Bearing. It is important that the crankcase get adequate cooling. I run a pipe length of 24" face of exh to baffle and use the following props : 14.5-11 4bl, 17-10N cut to 16", 30% nitro. You can easily handle up to 9#. You can get the crankcase pump OS sells for the new heli engine. Good luck Nat Penton

Thank you Matt K. and everyone else who answered to my letter.
I am in Greece and since my last pattern plane is allready ten years old (Conquet IV)and a two meter plane is too much (and expensive) for our local competition (and F3A practicing), I choosed the Swallow with OS 91 FX but my concern is the bad rumors that I heard about the OS 91 FX (needle valve assembly, ABN plating etc) and I wonder if a 4C is more suitable for my plane.

Yia sou Stavre.
The OS 91FX will work fine in this application. My friend Nat Penton uses the engine on his 8+ pound models, and also has adapted the Perry pump on the backplate. His pipe length is longish by many standards but it needs to be since he turns a 17x10N 2 blade or the small 4 blade apc props (13.5x11 4 blade)
Are you in Greece or US?
Matt K

I want to haul a Swallow 90 for using it in aerobatics. Is the OS 91 FX a reliable engine or there is a better choice ? Any suggestions ? Thank you in advance.
Stavros I.
