MessageTroy,
It's all good, man. We are all able to recognize and appropriately value the real world experience of fellow modelers. Can't imagine anyone interpreting your comments as biased. We have to mix our experience and opinion with our limited science when extensive science is not available. The journey to knowledge has many 15+ degree deviations.

  Well guys...

I just got off the phone with Cameron Smith and he apparently has had some issues with Li-ion battery packs. As shown below he had a tragedy affect his life and his love for modeling.

I'm sorry to hear that this had occurred. Till this morning the only incident I knew that was related to lithium batteries was the Lithium Metal packs.

"That Guy" in my previous post was not Cameron but another modeler I met in California this past Spring. I believe my information was not complete. I'll stick to the details of my experience and my opinion rather than say "That Guy's issue was not the same." I apparently was talking of another individual than was Lance.

I'm not paid by any suppliers, and I purchased my batteries same as any other customer.

I'm not a battery expert, nor did I claim to be a battery expert. I am just relaying my opinion experience with the batteries. I feel these batteries are a good alternative to other technologies. They have dangers associated with them. As with all battery technologies there are dangers involved.

This all being said I will continue to use and fly these batteries in the future. I feel these batteries are an advantage to me. The last post I made regarding the performance of the battery is why I choose to use it. From new information not all Lithium battery suppliers are using the same technology to serve your flying needs. So I guess you need to choose what application if any of this technology will work for you. I have found my system and I feel it is a good one for me.

  Your Mileage may vary!

    Response to Troys post:

I have been quiet about this for about a year now,And due to the inaccurate information being posted on this site I feel I must make a ONE time statement to the facts of August 7th 2002.
On August 6th 2002 I received a selection of the NEW Duralite PLUS Batteries and installed them in my new pattern plane. That night I did surface deflection set-ups & placed the plane on charge and fell asleep watching the Braves game.
That morning we awoke to thick smoke & flames coming from the downstairs area of my home. My girlfriend, dogs & I got out with only minutes to spare. THANK YOU GOD!
The year that followed was a real BUMMER! I was burned out of my home. Let me tell you from experience loosing your home to model airplanes AINT WORTH IT!
During this last year I have found out that the company had a design/assembly problem, recalls & claims to carry NO insurance. Also has NO interest or resources to help compensate me for my loses. Admitting they have had to make some assembly modifications.
Now I am not going to say ALL Lithium technologies are bad. They may not all have R/C applications. Do your homework. There are companies out there that have real engineers & years of product development, And product liability insurance to protect YOU and them. NOT JUST COLOR MAGAZINE ADS!
New technologies will be coming to this hobby and all parts of our lives, Do yourself & your loved ones a favor. Do your homework,Don't be so quick to bring the latest & newest products into your home without making sure the BEST testing, design & Manufacturing has been put into these products. Not just COLOR MAGAZINE & INTERNET ADS!
If anyone has further questions or comments about this and OTHER incidents you may contact me OFFLINE.
