My wild amateur guess is that it has more to do with keeping
a 9-5 schedule than with any real concerns about people flying
at the site.

I haven't been to a nats, but I'll bet it's a high-pressure
situation for the staff, involving long days and lots of
problem solving when they'd rather be home with their
families, enjoying the summer.

If that's the problem, maybe there's a better solution than
shortening the nats.

If it's not the problem, then ignore the above speculation.
