"I understand that I blew any creditability by my previous rant and I can live with that."
Not a problem, we all face a little burnout from time to time. You were only criticized by a few, not all. A couple of years back I saw a fellow at a contest who was selling out and getting out. I was observed by another flyer while I was trying to convince the drop out that he was wrong. Later the observer confided he had known the other fellow for ten years and that sometimes he quits twice a season.
The moral of the story: You have burnt no bridges, we will welcome you back anytime. The decision to spend more time with your family was a good one.

Mike,
I think you and Dave are missing my point entirely. I am not saying that I am not happy flying pattern, or that pattern as ran me out. I am saying the exact opposite of that. I enjoyed it and would still be perusing it if I could afford it. I was just responding to Anthony's question on how to attract new people. Period. I was trying to give a real world experience as to why I was leaving pattern. If you view an honest opinion has bashing (dirty laundry) then so be it. I am passionate about this hobby and I have opinions. I find it hard to sit back and say nothing when people bring this topic up in this list. I would think someone as passionate, as I assume you are (my impressions of meeting you in Dayton), would want to discuss this as well, and to take into account people's ideas and thoughts.
I will be the first one to admitt that I got a little carried away with the last discussion that I decided to participate in on this list. I took things out of context, said somethings that I really didn't mean, and learned a lot about a few people on this list. I can assure you my response to the initial question this go around was not bashing, it was purely concern on my part, and others as it seams, about the future of pattern.
I like this list for information that is passed around on plane trimming, new equipment, and such. You guys tend to go into more detail then other list. I plan on continue monitoring of this list for that purpose. I doubt however, that I will ever post another message to this list, cause opinions are not welcome. This again is not meant to bash. I understand that I blew any creditability by my previous rant and I can live with that.
Good luck with your winter build, and your up coming season.
