Hobby visions extravaganza

Friday entailed a quick trip to the expo to register and then a drive to the Bennett field.

We were treated to some exciting and very different flying from a bunch of pilots such as Chip, Jason, Mike McConville, Rick Mattie just to name a few. Chris Chianelli was filming for the DIY network. Local TV was there making a mini news doc. The weather was beautiful and they had to send out three times for more water and sodas as we inhaled then in the dry desert air.

The flying was just great. This was an out and out show. Jason showed his smooth electric European Rhapsody, which was in stark contrast to the combat demo with half a dozen banshee bats buzzing around each other, (a.k.a. Killer BEES). Mike Mc. and Doug Cronkhite flew their Funtana's. One with a 4-c and one with electric power up front. Both flew the same.

Chip had a bunch of stuff there. The new lightweight ali-control horns with built in ball-races in four anodized colors. He had a little electric that flew by varying the speeds of the two motors. The new ARF bi-plane was flown with the DA 50. Tons of power that allowed Chip to do full TOC type freestyle. And YES he did fly a section with his feet - I have the video to prove it.

Ran into a lot of folks that we knew. Best of all was meting Reeves Lippencot from Alaska, after all these years of e-mail and phone calls. A true gent and pattern supporter.

You all might want to pencil this event in for a pre-winter getaway next year... Neat stuff and great flying to boot...

Got a busy day at the show tomorrow.

Nite,

Eric.
