Just as well I have the Dymond charger... I'll use it instead. Thanks for
the input.

Derek,
I started off with C-10 and shut down the charger after the battery got hot,
not warm, hot. I then tried the other functions recommended on the Litco
site FAQ section for NIMH batteries. Of course, I discharged the batteries
first. In every case, the batteries got hot. I honestly don't remember now
which other functions I used other than there are a couple of functions
Litco specifically recommends you don't use. At that point, I gave up the
ghost and bought the Titan. This was early in the summer and it's been fine
all year. I assume you already have the Alpha so running a test once you
have the pack should be easy. My personal opinion is that the peak cutoff on
the Alpha is designed for Nicads and doesn't work so well on Nimh. All of
this is based on what I've read and experienced. Reality is that I only know
enough about electronics to get by or, sometimes, in trouble.......

Verne,

What function did you use on the A4? Also, did you use the c/10 function to
charge it initially?

Derek,
I went to the Litco site and read all of their instructions on using the
Alpha on NIMH packs and followed those instructions to the letter on my
2000mah NIMH Tx pack. The pack got much hotter than I felt it should and I
shut it down before it was finished. After checking with more experienced
guys who had been using NIMH including feeling the temp of their packs at
peak charge, I came to the conclusion that the Alpha isn't suited to NIMH
batteries. I bought a GP Titan charger and it works great. This isn't meant
to slight the Alpha in any way since I've been using it on Nicads with great
success for years. However, my experience indicates it isn't he best choice
for NIMH.

is a 1650mah pack. I've never had a NimH pack before so I'd like to find
out from the experts out there if there is anything I need to do differently
than a standard NiCad pack. Can I use my Alpha 4 to charge it? I do have a
Dymond charger that I can use and I know that it does support NimH but I'd
prefer to use the Alpha 4 because of its AC/DC versatility.
