I'll bet that the manuscript is already in word-processor files.
Maybe the pix, too.

It's not hard to make a .pdf.

The costs of duplicating the disks are relatively
cheap.

Shipping disks should be cheaper than shipping books.

The great problem is folks copying CDs instead of buying
them.  All you can do is to ask people to be honest and
play fair.
