micro-baloons follow up

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know that I have solved the problem I had the other
day...thank you to all.

Well, it turns out that I indeed just had Cabosil. The properties were as
I described. It turns a semi-translucent white colour, mixes poorly and adds
not much volume as such ( hence heavy). It is also very hard to sand.

I went to my supplier and got a 'mystery' box of some more white powder. I
confused them, and now they didn't know what exactly they sold
me...micro-balloons or cabosil.

Well the instant I started mixing it I knew I had micro-balloons. The box
said Borosilicate Glass ( I hope I spelt that right!) I noticed it mixed
much faster and easier and it turned into a nice fluffy mixture. It also
stayed pure white. It is very light as I just kept adding the powder until I
got the consistency I required.

Cabosil will be good for mold building, and the ballons I'll use for the
moldings, which will make life a lot easier from now.

Tom
