Tom, sounds like cabosil. Too dry is bad, since it will break/crack easily.
Has very little strength on it's own. That is why we add a piece of carbon
tow along with it where needed. Resin we use is similar to yours, so would
guess that is not a problem. If you are looking for bulk the balloons would
be lighter,either glass or phenolic.If you are looking for a fillet
material, we use a 2 part epoxy mix that is blue/greenish, called Super Fil.
We also use it to glue on belly pans, and fill joints on glass fuses. Get it
from Aircraft Spruce and Specialties.
