Pipe coupler questions

Eric's post about the ES pipe got me curious..
I have an ES 4C pipe, and want to use it with an AAP header. The problem is that the inlet of the pipe seems to be a good bit larger than the outlet of the header.. Teflon couplers won't stretch, so how do I reduce it? The best thing that I have been able to come up with is a 1/2" barb that I found at Home Depot that I would JB weld into the neck of the pipe? These are brass, so are going to be heavy. It also has a thick wall that would probably restrict flow unnecessarily. Is there an alternative available somewhere?
On a related note, this pipe is used and is squeezed in some at the inlet where the last coupler was clamped. This will make it hard to get whatever kind of reducer I end up with into the pipe. The thought here was to gently heat the neck with a heat gun to soften until I can get a reducer in there. Is this a bad idea?
Any tips on how to accomplish all of this? I'm new to the 4C stuff, but I have a second hand plane that is set up for one, so I'm going to give it a shot with the YS sport 140 (FZ). Thanks in advance, Chuck
