Jim,
A good setup is reliable.  I see bad setups that aren't reliable with both 
2 and 4 strokes.  What I notice is that it's a LOT easier to get a 2 
stroke reliable AGAIN once problems start.  This assumes, of course, that 
you had a reliable setup to begin with.  I know people that fight their 
setup from the beginning and blame the engine.
