Kyle....A good source of information on maneuver descriptions is our NSRCA website and the AMA competition rulebook. Look at "schedules" and "judging".
Your best information will come from attending a contest. Actually watching the sequence done properly will explain most of your questions. If you are new to contest flying....may i suggest that you try "Sportsman" for your first time out. You may have already done this. Don't know.
To answer your question....Coming out of a split-S your plane will be upright. Then a 1/2 roll to inverted flight followed by another 1/2 roll back to upright. The 1/2 rolls are part of the maneuver. It's important that you keep everything in the box without your maneuvers being too short. That's why a contest will be invaluable if you can get to one. If you have not attended a contest....Your in for a treat.
