Battery question

To get more peace of mind Terry,

I would fit a C-volt digital display. With digital servos the current drain can be very high with the engine running. Any unusual readings are a clue not to fly. Saved 4 planes so far by looking at the display during run-up. The problem is that if you fly, flight four or five in your case, and a problem develops you need a big reserve.

A hung gear, a bad pot on an aileron, a stuck throttle etc can need as much as 500 mAh to get you down. Charging after 3 flights, as Steve said, is a sensible margin. I would switch to NiMH to avoid the memory issue of Nicads.

Eric.

BTW - I am running 2000 mAh Li-ions now, (for two seasons). Lighter, easier to charge, plug and leave, charger is like cigar charger for cell phones, fully up after less than two hours, very slow discharge rate.

Im flying a 1400 mah nicad pack, analog on throttle
digi on everything else.

I go no more than three flights of masters two times
through each flight, I put back in 1100-1200 mah. So,
Im leaving very little reserve. I would rather use
only half the pack and fly four times, but that means
changing to lithium batteries so next plane I will do
that.

BTW I almost learned the hard way about this. Before I
knew this I landed after four flights and as I taxied
back I noticed my ailerons kind of slowly waiving up
and down. Checked the pack and it was nearly gone.
