Piranha Putty and Epoxy

I mixed two slabs of Piranha Putty and left one surface smooth and the other surface was sanded with 150 grit sandpaper. Both slabs were glassed using 2oz cloth and West Systems epoxy leaving extra cloth hanging off so i could rip it off. I also mixed up some Bob Smith 5 minute and 30 minute batches and put those on each as well.

No problem with curing. Curing time was normal. Epoxy adhesion on the smooth slab was fair but not strong. Adhesion on the sanded slab was excellent. The only way to remove the epoxy on the sanded slab was dig into the putty with a knife and pop pieces of it off.

As long as you sand the surface of this stuff with 180 grit or less , you are good to go. Glass away!

3M's only warning is applying this filler over freshly painted lacquer surfaces. Fully cured acrylic lacquer is OK........John
