Swallow vs. Quest - Parts 1 and 2?

Bill,
It's all party of a strategy to make it easier to get into pattern. If there are good planes that we can recommend that cost as little as $250, then we remove that huge barrier called COST!
When several of us try and fly these planes it adds even more validity to their viability for newcomers.
In my case I try and tell you all the facts as unbiased as possible. If I like a plane it is because it is easy to fly and meets my criteria of acceptability. Of course others may not feel the same way or have different standards. Even though I am taking aim at newcomers, a side effect is that existing pattern flyers who do not have $3000 per plane budgets may also enjoy the experience.
The Tai Ji sort of began this experience. What we have to do is take this knowledge and pass it on to the next generation of pattern flyers.
What I worry about is that my enthusiasm for a product will be taken as an endorsement. What I fall back upon is that it is my money that buys them so I am not "connected" to the vendors. In the end you have to decide for yourself if it is a good one or not.
The Quest is one that I really like because it does the job! (BTW it is called a Quest 3-D. I dropped the 3-D because I am not using the plane for that purpose - so far. It has double-beveled surfaces so increasing the throws is simply a matter of moving the clevices to to get bigger throws - Maybe for FG-1?)
Regards,
Eric.

Eric:
Yes; I got a plethora of information from you that was totally useful, and very
informative. Very helpful, as you always are.
I hadn't yet gotten a chance to reply. The pictures etc. were great. I'm having a great
time with the Swallow; the Quest looks to be parallel. I clicked on the web site for Creek
Hobbies and tried to enlarge the picture of the Quest; no joy. I'm going to try again with
a different browser.
Showed the Swallow yesterday to John Ferrell; he is quite impressed by several aspects,
including the portability of that sized airplane. The 66" wing with proportional fuselage,
makes for flexibility of transportation that is lacking in the 2 meter planes.
I obtained the airplane through Ron van Putte's Shalimar Hobbies; Ron was Johnny-on-the-spot
and got me the kit a day sooner than expected, at a great price.
Thanks Ron!
In any event, after your comprehensive write up of the Quest, it seems we have another
airplane to consider.
Eric, you are providing a great service to the pattern community with this buying/reviewing
of these airplanes. Through you we are able to determine at no cost to us, whether or not
they are eligible for consideration for competition or practice. Thanks so much!
