Transferring from drawing to wood

It's me again,

My next project for this winter  will be scratch build and involve transferring parts (bulkhead and ribs in particular) from the drawing to balsa and ply.
What is the preferred method to do so ? I tried ironing a photocopy on the wood and also gluing the copy on the wood using contact cement but the results were not great. What are the other options (apart from getting a laser cut pack) or the proper procedure for the 2 above ?
