Wheel Pants

Bill,
You might consider epoxying the pants onto the gear and save the weight and
bother of nuts and bolts. It also saves the space you don't have and the
alignment is always there. I've been doing that for many years. The gear is stronger
as a results and the normal maintenance you would likely have with the nut
and bolt method, simply doesn't exist with my set-up.

In the event of a crashed landing, the pants usually don't survive regardless
of mounting method. The pants are simply ground off and replaced.

The axles I use are 6-32 flat head allen bolts. I epoxy a blind nut/ply plate
inside the pant and screw the bolt from the backside of the strut, into the
blind nut, so that it is extending into the pant. That's the axle part. A c
clip holds the wheel in place. The simplest and as light an assembly as possible.

FWIW
