Fuel Weights?

Someone explain to me why we as end users care about how they mix.  I 
usually observe engine performance as the driver in fuel choice followed 
by price and how the fuel does or does not damage my engine, that is, 
additives for anti-corrosion. I can tell you that most chemical industry 
"blenders" always mix by weight not volume for batch to batch accuracy. 
The reason is obvious..
