 Thanks E. if you get the results on the DZ on a 17x12 sometime in the future please let us know. I agree with the spooling up on the 2c. I think that from my assesment that for raw power the DZ's seem to have an edge but when you add in all the factors like fuel costs, engine costs, ease of maintenence ie. simplicity, and reliability the available 2 strokes are a very good choice. Still testing the Mintor 1.70 in the same ship. Running an APC 17 x 12 with 10/16 Powermaster. 15 Runs so far. Does P-03 and P-05. It s not the same power as a 4-c and you spool up a bit more in the bottom corners. Prefer the 17 x 13 for noise and will wait a while before I load up the engine.

I was pleasantly surprised too.   I can only imagine what this engine will perform like in cooler weather.  We have also been surprised that these numbers are coming from 10% Magnum fuel.  Now its just a matter of getting it my plane and trying different props.
I failed to note that I am using 2 - A5 plugs.

That's pretty good, the best numbers I've heard yet for a 3M-170.

For comparison my Webra 160 turned the APC 17x12 at 8500 rpm at the 
Fresno Contest in June and then again in 104 degree heat at Riverside 
on the 4th of July.  That's not peak rpm but the flight setting which 
was a bit rich (new motor and all).  Magnum #1, YS plug, ES-2C140L90 
pipe set at 23-1/4" baffle to plug, stock 1.75" rise Mac's header, MC 
carb.  The motor is timed so that it doesn't come onto the pipe at 
all (i.e., NO pipe jump), and the throttle response is linear from 
idle to full power.  It's also ultra quiet on the ground (under 92 db 
at the Nats) and in the air.

Tony Frackowiak's running the same setup in an Alliance on Magnum 15% 
fuel and turning 8200-8400 (again set a bit rich).

I can't imagine what else anyone would want out of a motor.  It's 
essentially perfect.
