Velcro can be very good

The Velcro I am using is GB double sided. It works like a wire tie and has a slot just like a wire tie. You can't pull this stuff apart when used that way. I still think that battery slid out of the foam tube. I should have used a tie-wrap longitudinally as well. Should have, would have , could have....

When you all are discussing the problems with velcro, I wonder what kind
you are using. I've found that most velcro that I find in the hardware
stores locally frays easily and the sticky back doesn't hold up. Then the
hook material lets go too easily. I wouldn't trust my battery or receiver
to it.

I use a product called Vel-Tye (www.veltye.com). They have hook material
called 87S ($4.25 yd) that is so good, it will fray and rip apart normal
velcro. For the loop material I use their "back to back hook and loop".
It is a non-fraying material that is two sided. It sticks to itself. Use
these to wrap up the foam, then epoxy the hook material in your plane, then
just set the battery/receiver (wrapped in B2B material) on the 87S hook,
and you're done. It aint coming off due to any flight loads.

To separate this, you need to work your fingers through the joint slowly.
I use this stuff for many purposes and buy it in bulk, then cut it to size.

Check it out!
