I use the "cheap way".  I tie all connectors together with dental floss. 
 Years ago I, too, had a battery depart for the tail in a vertical 
maneuver.  The free flight portion of the flight consisted of loops 
which got lower and lower until some trees got in the way.  That's when 
I started using dental floss for connectors.
