NEW CONTEST - NegotiatingEric,
Congrats on getting a new contest on the schedule when pattern contests seem
to be declining, at least here in Colorado.
Watch out for the CD test! There is one multiple choice question that does
not
have a correct answer listed. I wrote in the correct answer <g>.

Subject: NEW CONTEST - Negotiating
In my latest MA column (that probably hits the streets in about
three months - plus two???) I wrote about running a contest from a CD's
perspective. I spent some time on how to persuade a club to let you use
their field etc. Often the sticking point is that they lose their field for
two days.
Well wouldn't you know it, I was up in front of my local club
last night lobbying for a new contest and that objection came up. The answer
that worked was, "It's not really two days - the field can be opened up
about 5 PM after the first days flying and after about 2 PM on the Sunday".
I added that if they wanted clinic the week before for club members it would
be a joy to do, and the whole meeting turned around to positive.
(The result BTW is that there will be a new contest called West Windsor
Season Finale Pattern Contest, in NJ on Sept 13 and 14 at a field just off
of Rt. 38 with easy access from exit 4 of the NJ turnpike and exit 43 of
I-295).
Now all I have to do is complete my CD test, send in a sanction and get
all the D-1 and in-range-D-2 pilots to show up.....
Regards,
Eric.
