Pipe coupler questions

Teflon couplers do stretch.  I buy teflon coupler material that's a bit 
smaller than the smaller diameter (usually the header).  Then I heat 
several nut drivers with increasing diameters on my kitchen stove.  I 
push the smallest driver in as far as needed, working it in and out to 
keep the teflon rubbery.  Then I move on to the next size nut driver and 
do the same thing.  When the coupler end is large enough to go on the 
bigger diameter item, I push the coupler on.  When it cools, the coupler 
will shrink and grip the surface.  Then I do the other (easy) end.
