Larry:

The really bad thing is, with all the really backwards (read that red-neck) people in this area, we can still operate voting machines without problems! Man, I would hate to be in Palm Beach County where they can't even figure out touch-screen voting............ <VBG>

  Tony,

Got a chuckle with the LA and learn new things comment...I kid you not, we had someone submit an application to our company that was from LA. During his interview he stated, "I don reed, I don rite, and I don dew pewters"...<VBG>

    Gray:

Yes, that's what happened to my club. I am the newsletter editor, and we finally went to an on-line newsletter. Sure, it's only a 4-pager, but it is still a hassle when you have to copy/stamp/mail over 200 issues by yourself!

We are now down to less than 50 members that we have to mail to. Keep in mind that this is LA (Lower Alabama) and nobody likes to learn new things, like computers. Heck, even our "seasoned" veterans are using the net!

I think we need a change to avoid the past problems with the publication!

BTW: Thanks for the vote! I guess I'll get at least one!

The cost of NSRCA dues should be related to pattern promotion, not K-Factor publication. I have never been one of the types that anxiously awaits the K-factor, and until this thread I had not realized that I had not received one since the NATS. The $35/year dues is not anything compared to the cost of the planes or even one servo that we fly. I would suggest to those that regard the K-Factor as what they get for $35 to re-think the reason for the NSRCA which in reality is to make sure that we the pattern flyers have a voice and consistency across the nation in what we do. The local contests for most part exist because of the NSRCA. Without it there would be some contests but if you look the guys putting on the contests they are not paying $35/year simply for a mag-they do it to promote pattern.
As far as the electronic format goes it should be a priority as it saves money and labor. Had the same problem in my local club 2 out of 125 did not have computer access and fought to keep our club newsletter the same ole format. Electronic format K-Factor will win by default faster than Tony Stillman because no one will step up and deal with it the publication effort-but they will whine. Tony-you have my vote for sure -thanks!
