Is surfacing the valve cover still a must, or recommended, I did surface
valve cover on my DZ and changed the valve cover gasket but not sure that
this is still critical like it was with L, FZ, SC, AC, SF (I think I got
them all <G>)

	Tom,

Are you running too rich? The DZ doesn't run well rich...Its
something about raw fuel going in and putting out the fire. If the motor is
running too rich then it will shake like crazy and sound like its hammering
and banging around.....If you lean it out the motor will smooth out and be
awesome.....Needle valves vary but all the DZ's I have setup or seen run
seem to be at about (1) Turn open....In fact up here at elevation
5600-6000ft I'm only about ¾ of a turn open...The motor is still "rich" of
the peak by about 200-300rpm and runs great....
You may look here for a solution rather than head shims.....I have
never heard of someone adding head shims to really solve a problem on this
motor...I have heard of people trying it and then they leaned the needle and
did not need it.
	Troy
