Hear that folks ??? ST 2300 Hanson Dalotel with maybe 60 flights wins in Advanced at Bridgewater !!!! It doesn't have to be made of unobtanium nor cost 3K to be competitive. Now as far as the "list to starboard", that almost was as funny as the Scottish version of "throttle curve". You just had to be there..... Perphaps the funniest D1 contest this year, all were in prime form. My sincere thanks to Dave Funk for the retract and leg and Frank Granelli for the 5/32" axle that I forgot to return.
Ed M.

On Friday practice Ed Miller snapped a gear leg on his big Hanson Dalotel. David Funk came to the rescue with a spare leg, but Ed needed a 3/16 leg. David again came to the rescue with a whole retract that was 5/32nds. Looking good. Nope! the axle was 5/32nds. Eventual;l Ed fitted Dave's wheel as well, BUT, the wheel was much smaller than the one that was still on the other wing. Result was a lean top starboard. This bad for taking off to the left but good the other way because the wing tip was high into the wind.
Abusively as ever we teased Ed about not having his wings level on take-off.or landing. A laugh a minute. He still won his class but he paid for it all weekend :-)
Evil-Eric.

Eric-- you need an airplane to haul your airplanes around in. I find a Cessna 182, with the backseat removed, fits a pattern plane fine, although the tail feathers stick back into the tail cone a foot or so. Has enough useful load to haul those big trophies back.
Cuts those 6 hour drives down to a 2 hour or so cruise above the traffic. A real bonus if the pattern contest is held at a field where you can land.

Anybody that doesn't think pattern fliers have fun should have been at the D1 Bridgewater contest this weekend.
I started laughing Friday after noon and haven't stopped yet.
Great weekend, great contest, lots of fun.
Dave
