WAS - KFactor Now "Members"

880 is great and astonishing to me....I know of at least 1/2 of the Denver guys that won't join but were members in 1999.
I would have put money it was in the high 600's like 680 but and extra 200 shows how mis-informed I am.

But I guess my numbers were off by a couple hundred on both sides of the range....but the percentages are about the same. 35% decline in memberships instead of a 40%......

Like I have said earlier in other topics.....I don't believe that the NSRCA has all the competing pattern flyers....In fact I think a large percentage a fairly surprisingly large percentage are not members. All the more reason individual Rules change proposals must go to the Board....

I know here in Colorado we have been down in terms of contests and down in terms of participants. Many that have done it for years and years are not attending....They are still flying but not attending events. Another thing is Economic issues her in Denver. I know many in this town have been laid off and looking for a new place to live and new work.

One super good thing is a year ago we had nearly no Sportsman flyers and our join IMAC and Pattern meet the lack of flyers was on the top end of the tier and not the lower classes. We had 4 Sportsman and 3 Intermediate. D6 Champs in Lubbock had an amazing 12 guys in Sportsman. It was unreal. Granted many of them 6-7 came from Mexico to fly Sportsman....But these guys had a ball...flying Ultra Sticks, and Sport planes.....All in 30mph winds...these guys were a load fun and tough as nails!

The current NSRCA membership is 880 members. In 12/99 we had about 1350 members. I have prepared a history of NSRCA which will be published in the K-Factor in early 2003 which will show the yearly membership since the early years of NSRCA, and many other interesting items.

Troy - you mention over 1100 a "few years ago", and now, approx. 600. Is there a public number maybe Maureen could share? Curious - what exactly HAVE the paid member counts been for the past 4 years ????

And does anyone KNOW if a decreased membership in NSRCA has ALSO resulted in lower contest attendance? From what I hear/read, the average attendance is relatively unchanged, isn't that right? So maybe we have just lost members in the NSRCA and NOT "lost" Pattern fliers?

Any speculation on these points/questions?

I think that it was mid-July the one that was circulated at the NATS....I can't be for sure....there may have been one after that....I don't think it was the July issue I think is was called the June issue.....but that's the last one I have seen.

I don't always get them...I guess my mailman sucks...Seems to be the typical answer. I think this year of 2002 I have received 3 or 4 KFs. I know there have been more issues at least (6). I usually just borrow a buddies. I would check and see what the last one was but they seem to be in high demand out here in Colorado so I use it as a marketing tool....When I'm done I just pass it along. The hope is eventually the guy that ends up with it who ever he is might join up.

The guys will get something going. Heck dues are coming up in December and I would hate to see the numbers if there is no KF...Right now I think we are standing at about 600+ and just a few years ago we were well over 1100+.

Its a serious concern for those of us that have been involved and the people that are still involved. Not to mention the advertising exposure that the main supports are counting on....There are just a few companies that have advertised in Every single KF and continue to do so. no matter what the delivery schedule and no matter what the quality of the publication. These are the guys and companies that have sustained the KF your dues are not enough period..the Advertising dollars these guys like Central, Radio South, and others...I don't want to leave any off but I know these 2 have never missed an addition in the last save 5-6 years+.......these dollars have made the KF possible so send them some business.
