Sig King Kobra as a Pattern Plane??

A recent listing on Ebay for a Sig King Kobra short kit (wing cores, cowl,
canopy, and turtle deck) got me thinking about that plane again. I've always
heard good things about the King Kobra and how smooth it flys. Plus, the
airfoiled shaped tail was an added bonus!! I was wondering if anyone has
tried "patternizing" the Sig King Kobra and using it in competition or just
for practice?? If so what engines were used??
With the King Kobra only having a 58 inch wing span with 700 square inches,
it seems to be a large forty size plane or a small sixty. Thinking
fourstroke, I was envisioning a Saito 80 or perhaps a Y.S 63??
Any thoughts, comments or discussion would be greatly appreciated!!
Sincerely,
