C/F wing tubes

Dan, I drilled out one of the PBG CF tubes.....

I stuck a piece of hardwood dowel in the end of the tube glues it in place and then drilled the CF tube and the hardwood to accept a small say 3/8" long piece of Nyrod....The yellow pushrod stuff....#4 sheet metal screws go into the end very nice and they can be tightened up good with no fear of vibration cause the screw to back out....If you ever strip it just drill the nyrod out and stick in a new piece.....

As for the CF...Try not to drill right on the end...maybe a 1/2" in and use thin CA on the hole....Thin CA and Carbon fiber are like long lost brothers....I even fixed a Bolly CF prop once that was split about 2 inches with Thin CA and sanded it to re shape it......That prop is still running strong. NO failure Yet.

I think if it can work on a prop then the wing tube is cake. I would epoxy the wood into the tube though this will be the most assurance.

By the way I only use CA thick CA at that on the Central CF pushrods....I have never had an end come off. And it quick and easy.....CA and CF go together very well.

Subject: C/F wing tubes

When using a carbon fiber wing tube can a person use the screw hold down in the wing method or are we limited to using wing holds in the fuselage? In other words can a small block of wood be placed in each end of the tube and then the tube and wood block be drilled for a 4/40 screw (self tapping) or is the carbon fiber to prone to crack at the drilled hole??

Thanks
