What about starting with the CD's? If you take the registration information 
from contests, for say the last two years, that would give a VERY accurate 
picture of who is actually competing. Isn't this the real target, specifically 
for rule changes? It would also give some very meaningful demographics like how 
many active pattern fliers are NSRCA members!

Maybe if we nudge Derek we could get him to add a Quote/Comma delimited flat 
file of the registration data from his scoring system. Others could supply an 
Excel spreadsheet, text file, paper, whatever. The trick is to maintain it. 
Maybe this could be done at the district level, which would spread the labor 
out and minimize the effort to consolidate the information on a national basis.
